Moon Water, Plainly
A widespread modern practice and a genuinely useful one, provided you are clear that its value is in the marking of time rather than in anything happening to the water. Kept for cleansing tools and surfaces — never for drinking.
You'll need
- Clean water in a lidded jar
- A sill or a step
The working
-
Fill a clean jar with water and put the lid on. The lid keeps out everything that would otherwise arrive overnight.
-
Set it where the moon will reach it, and say what you intend to use it for.
-
Bring it in before the sun is properly up.
-
Label it with the date and keep it for cleansing tools, sills and surfaces. Pour it away after a month and make more — it is only water, and it does not keep.
Variations & notes
A lidded jar on a sill is the practical version. Do not drink it: water left standing overnight, especially outdoors, is not drinking water, and no amount of moonlight changes that.
Harm none. This is offered, not prescribed. Take what serves you, change what doesn't, and stop at any point it asks more of you than you want to give.
